Welcome to the Canadian Women in Energy (CWiE) website (the “Site”). By accessing or using this Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the Site.

These Terms govern your use of the Site and are separate from our Privacy Policy, which explains how personal information is collected, used, and protected.

 

1. About CWiE

Canadian Women in Energy (CWiE) is a nonprofit, volunteer-run organization dedicated to advancing education, networking, mentorship, and philanthropy for women in the Canadian energy sector. The Site provides information about our programs, events, membership, and initiatives.

While we strive to keep information current and respond to inquiries in a timely manner, response times and updates may be delayed due to the volunteer nature of the organization.

 

2. User Obligations and Acceptable Use

By using this Site, you agree to:

  • use the Site for lawful purposes only
  • engage respectfully with CWiE, its members, volunteers, and partners
  • provide accurate and truthful information when submitting forms or registrations

You agree not to:

  • use the Site for fraudulent, misleading, or illegal activities
  • post or transmit content that is defamatory, abusive, discriminatory, harassing, or otherwise inappropriate
  • attempt to disrupt, damage, or interfere with the Site’s operation or security

CWiE reserves the right to restrict or terminate access to the Site if these Terms are violated.

 

3. Intellectual Property Rights

All content on this Site, including text, logos, graphics, images, documents, branding, and design, is owned by or licensed to CWiE and is protected under applicable intellectual property laws.

4. Memberships, Events, and Payments

Certain areas of the Site may allow users to register for memberships, events, or programs that require payment.

  • all fees are displayed in Canadian dollars unless otherwise stated
  • payments are processed through secure third-party platforms
  • memberships and event registrations are subject to availability

Refunds and cancellations:

  • event-specific refund or cancellation policies will be communicated at the time of registration
  • membership fees are generally non-refundable unless explicitly stated otherwise

CWiE reserves the right to modify fees, offerings, or event details at any time.

Participation in events is at your own risk.

 

5. Photography and Media Release

By registering for or attending a CWiE event, you acknowledge and agree that photographs, video recordings, and other media may be captured during the event.

You grant CWiE the right to use, reproduce, and publish these images and recordings, which may include your likeness, for purposes including but not limited to promotional materials, social media, website content, and event recaps and marketing.

Such use may occur without further notice or compensation.

If you prefer not to be photographed or recorded, you are responsible for notifying event organizers in advance or on-site, and we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your request.

 

6. User-Generated Content

If you submit content to the Site (including testimonials, form responses, or event feedback), you:

  • confirm the content is accurate and does not infringe on third-party rights
  • grant CWiE a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to use the content for organizational and promotional purposes

CWiE may remove or edit user-submitted content at its discretion.

 

7. Third-Party Links and Affiliate Relationships

The Site may include links to third-party websites or platforms, including event partners, sponsors, or service providers.

  • CWiE does not control or endorse third-party content
  • CWiE is not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of third-party sites
  • any affiliate or sponsorship relationships will be disclosed where applicable

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the laws of Canada applicable therein.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or use of the Site shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of Alberta.

CWiE may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with the revised “Last updated” date.

Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
